Seven practical criteria for assessing an installation partner before the team arrives on site.

A reliable industrial installation partner does not arrive with manpower alone. They bring a prepared team, the right equipment, clear responsibilities and a communication process that keeps the project moving. Before placing an order, do not compare hourly rates only. Check how the partner will work from the initial brief through to handover.
The following seven criteria help project managers and machinery manufacturers distinguish spare capacity from a team that can take responsibility for its part of the implementation.
Relevant experience reduces the time needed to understand the project. Ask about similar technologies, working environments and project scopes. A general claim such as “we carry out industrial installations” is not enough when the project involves specialised machinery, piping systems or steel structures.
The partner should be able to explain which tasks the team can handle, where customer support is required and which information must be available before mobilisation.
Preparation becomes visible in the first hours on site. Verify the team composition, required qualifications, tools and personal protective equipment. It is equally important that the team understands the brief, drawings and limits of responsibility.
A useful question is: “What exactly do you need from us before mobilisation, and what will you provide yourselves?” A specific answer reveals the level of preparation better than a general presentation.

Every project needs a clear point of contact. Establish who leads the team on site, who handles changes and who communicates with your project manager. If every decision passes through several intermediaries, even a minor technical question can stop work unnecessarily.
Direct communication helps identify a problem while it can still be solved without a major impact. Check the team leader’s language skills and the reporting process. On projects in Germany and Austria, the ability to communicate on site is a practical part of coordination.
Agree on a short reporting rhythm: what has been completed, what comes next and what prevents the next step.
A stable team knows its working habits, allocation of tasks and communication style. When teams change constantly, time is repeatedly lost on onboarding and rebuilding cooperation.
Ask whether the partner deploys established teams and how replacements are managed. The key is a system that protects continuity.

Flexibility needs rules. The schedule, sequence of work or availability of components may change. A reliable partner assesses the impact, proposes the next step and confirms what the change means for capacity and deadlines.
Compare like with like. The price may cover installers only, or a complete package including coordination, administration, equipment and office support. An unclear scope turns into additional requests and disputes during implementation.
Request a specific answer for every criterion. Who will arrive? With what equipment? Who leads communication? How are changes managed? What will be delivered at handover?
